Perla Gonzalez Roman
Inspiring Students With Her Story
Growing up as a DACA student helped Perla find her voice, which she uses to empower underrepresented students to embrace their diversity and intersectionality by taking control of their life narrative. Seeking an online program that would allow her to continue her important work while growing as an advocate, she discovered the Morgridge College of Education Online.
As a lifelong athlete and longtime coach, Maya believes in the power of collaboration and learning through practice. At Morgridge College of Education, she found an online program where she could continually connect with supportive faculty and peers to work and grow together as social justice-focused school counselors.
Ian’s varied professional experiences in politics, education and as the co-owner of a café have been driven by a motivation to make his community a better place. SchoolCounseling@Denver’s focus on equity and social justice made it the right program to guide his continued advocacy for improving P-12 students’ lives and the communities to which they belong.
